Team news: Gyokeres in squad for Hong Kong NLD

 

Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal's new signing, is included in the squad for the North London Derby (NLD) against Tottenham in Hong Kong. The match is a pre-season friendly and the first NLD to be held outside the UK.

   

Gyokeres, who recently joined the club from Sporting CP, is on the substitutes' bench for the match. He only joined up with the squad on Sunday and has had limited training sessions with the team. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had previously stated that Gyokeres's participation would be assessed based on his condition.

The new forward has taken the iconic number 14 shirt, previously worn by Thierry Henry, but has stated he does not want to be compared to the Arsenal legend. He is described by his new captain, Martin Odegaard, as a "very complete player" with a lot of hunger and energy.

Other changes to the starting lineup for Arsenal include Martin Odegaard, Christian Norgaard, Declan Rice, Gabriel Martinelli, and Jakub Kiwior, all of whom are starting.
